Seek Information Sessions for Students
|
|
|
In 2018 we commenced the Seek class, a project-based inquiry learning class in year 8. This class combines English, Mathematics, HaSS and Science curriculums into interdisciplinary units of learning that develop social cohesion and deep thinking.
This term we will be seeking applications from interested students in years 7, 8 and 9.
We will hold an information session for all interested students after the week 7 whole school assembly. At the end of this information session, students will be given a link in the form of a flyer to complete the application form.
Applications are due September 9 at the end of week 8, a final session will be held during week 8 for students to attend and ask any further questions. Students are asked to listen to the daily notices to find out when this will be held.
Students selected for Seek cannot participate in LEAP or STAR/DARE without relinquishing their placement in their current program due to timetable restraints.

Year 7 English students have had great fun dressing up Shakespeare style as part of this unit. As well as having a good time, they now have an improved awareness of Elizabethan fashion.
Year 9 English students will soon undertake an excursion to the National Museum and year 8 classes have been studying poetry and poetic devices.
French students just finished making films on topics being studied, or poetry. Congratulations to Shasta Bignell in year 8, Hana Walker in year 8, Misa Bui in year 10, Sara Eleutheria in year 10 , Olina Mastuki in year 10 and Anna Vahey in year 10, who have submitted readings for the Alliance Française Concours de la Poésie. We are hoping they will be as successful as in previous years.

Indonesian Program
August 17 is a very special day in the Indonesian program calendar. It marks the 77th Indonesian Independence Day. To mark this event, our students have competed in the lumba krupuk (cracker eating competition), lumba lari (running competition), lumba balon (balloon competition) in the quest to be the best team of all time. There were many prizes to be won and students had an amazing time racing against their classmates from various Indonesian classes. We would like to wish all our friends and families a Happy Indonesian Independence Day!
