The Study of Studies of Society and Environment (SoSE)

Studies of Society and Environment at Lyneham High is progressive and relevant to today's world.  Students are involved in negotiating courses that involve issues and concepts that have a real world interest.

“Preparing for the future by reflecting on the past and examining the present...”

“By understanding the world, we have a better opportunity to understand ourselves and our role within that world”

Studies of Society and the  Environment aims to equip students with the skills to become vital, contributing and vocal members of society.

We do this by providing students with the skills necessary to examine the world around them, to critically evaluate and question events in both the human and natural spheres, to start asking questions about their own roles in society and the world that they will contribute to in the future.

Students of SoSE reflect on the past (History), study the present (Geography, Consumer Education, Legal Studies and Civics) and think about the future, not only for themselves but for the entire planet.
